Oil prices rose again on Wednesday, as concerns about further disruption to global energy supplies intensified with the continuation of U.S. attacks on the Islamic Republic’s military targets and the return of several tankers in the Red Sea.
Brent crude rose by $1 per barrel to $92.01; U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude also increased by 82 cents to $85.16.
The U.S. Army said it had begun its latest attacks on the Islamic Republic early on Wednesday, marking the 11th consecutive night of these attacks.
Yemen’s Houthis intensified concerns by threatening to target oil tankers carrying Saudi oil in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
On Tuesday, three oil tankers carrying Saudi crude to China and India in the Red Sea reversed course and, rather than passing near the coasts of Yemen, headed toward the Suez Canal.
