The International Security and Science Institute, citing satellite images, announced that the Islamic Republic is rebuilding the Talqan 2 facility at the military complex of Parchin at a rapid pace.
According to the institute, a cover has been installed over the damaged underground section that conceals reconstruction activities from satellites and aerial reconnaissance, and heavy construction equipment is operating on site.
Based on this report, the reconstruction began in Khordad 1405 and the cavities caused by hits from bunker-busting bombs have been covered with concrete. New reinforcing structures have also been built to increase protection against air attacks. The facility had previously been targeted twice.
The International Security and Science Institute said it is unclear what the Islamic Republic’s goal is in continuing the reconstruction and, pointing to the history of research and development activities related to nuclear weapons at this site, described the move as “highly concerning.”
