🔻Ghalibaf: Society has “concerns” about the infiltration bill

Mohammad-Baqer Ghalibaf said today in parliament that society has “concerns” about the infiltration bill.

The Speaker, while offering a general defense of the infiltration bill, said laws should not be written that “create disturbance and jeopardize individuals’ personal security.”

The bill titled “Countering infiltration by intelligence services and governments or foreign entities in the country” was approved in the public session of parliament on Mordad 25, but the review of its provisions is still underway.

While opposing the bill, the cabinet has proposed that it be taken off the agenda of parliament because it is inconsistent with multiple principles of the Constitution.

So far, two articles of this bill have been approved, and the government has warned about consequences including restrictions on scientific cooperation, increased migration of elites, and its negative effects inside and outside the country.

Today, Mohammad-Taqi Naqdali, a representative from Khomeyni Shahr, warned that it seems the government wants to turn parliament into its second branch, and asked Mohammad-Baqer Ghalibaf to take a public stand against the government.

This was met with criticism from the Speaker of parliament, who said those remarks are “not appropriate for the conditions prevailing in the country and disrupt unity.”
