Jamaica produced a late surge to defeat Panama 3-2 at Independence Park and climb to the summit of Group D in World Cup 2026 qualifying. Leon Bailey opened the scoring from the penalty spot before adding a spectacular free-kick in the 78th minute to put his side ahead for good.
Panama fought back twice through set-piece headers, but the visitors were reduced to ten men deep into stoppage time when goalkeeper Luis Mejia collected a second yellow card. The numerical advantage allowed Jamaica to close out a dramatic victory in front of a jubilant home crowd.
With the result, the Reggae Boyz now lead Group D on goal difference and will carry momentum into their remaining qualifiers. Bailey’s individual brilliance proved decisive as Jamaica extended their unbeaten home record in the campaign.
