🔶 A vessel caught fire near Oman

The British Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Monday that a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz has caught fire. In a statement it issued, the organization said, without providing further details, that the incident occurred 8 nautical miles northwest of Qumzar, Oman. According to the organization, the cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.

The British Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) advised ships and vessels to transit through the Strait of Hormuz with caution and to report any suspicious activity.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had earlier claimed in a statement that at late evening on Sunday, two “vessel(s) violating” that intended to enter and exit “the unsafe and incident-prone route in the southern Strait of Hormuz” “exploded and were prevented from moving.”

In that statement, the IRGC accused the United States of “inciting and coercing” ships to transit through the “unsafe route,” saying: “As long as America’s wickedness in the region continues, this passage is not safe for transporting even chemical fertilizer, and not even for a drop of oil and gas.”
