Two Renoir paintings from an artist’s museum in southern France were stolen. The thieves took four works out of the museum, but when the police arrived they left two paintings in the grounds and took the other two.

The theft has once again raised the question of security at museums in France. According to official statistics, in 2025 at least 22 cases of theft from museums in the country have been recorded.
