Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vučić said that if his ruling party wins the early parliamentary election scheduled for Oct. 25, he will resign as president and will run for the prime minister’s post.

The election is being held after more than a year of widespread and student protests against corruption, and also after the collapse of the roof of the Novi Sad railway station in November 2024, which led to the deaths of 16 people.
