Reuters, on Wednesday, 18 Shahrivar, citing informed sources, reported that Pakistan conveyed a message from Saudi Arabia to the Islamic Republic in which it asked Tehran to use its influence to stop the Houthis’ attacks on Saudi Arabia.

A senior regional diplomat told Reuters that Pakistan conveyed the message to Tehran within the past 24 hours. An Iranian senior official also confirmed that Pakistan sent the message on Tuesday, 17 Shahrivar, and that Tehran, in response, said: “We do not control the Houthis.”

However, two Iranian sources told Reuters that last week Tehran had asked the Houthis to attack Saudi Arabia and had promised to provide additional financial resources and weapons. According to these sources, several commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had gone to help coordinate attacks in Yemen.

Reuters wrote that the Houthis targeted an air base in Khamis Mushait and oil infrastructure in nearby cities on Tuesday, which resulted in 73 people being injured. Yahya Sarea, the spokesperson for the Houthi military, also said on Wednesday that Saudi warplanes carried out 54 airstrikes over 12 hours in several provinces of Yemen.
