🔶 New Mossad chief met with CIA director to discuss Iran

Roman Gofman, the new head of Mossad, traveled to Washington two weeks ago to hold talks about Iran’s war and the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program. Two knowledgeable sources said that during this trip he met with John Ratcliffe, director of the CIA, and a number of White House officials.

Gofman, who is considered one of Benjamin Netanyahu’s closest advisers, took over as head of Mossad in June.

This was his first trip to Washington since he began his tenure at the head of Israel’s foreign intelligence organization.

According to an Israeli source, one of the goals of the Mossad chief’s trip was to coordinate with the White House on negotiations with Iran in order to reach a nuclear deal.

The trip took place shortly before tensions intensified around the Strait of Hormuz and fighting resumed.

Based on this report, John Ratcliffe was among the figures in the close circle of Donald Trump who had a more skeptical stance toward the memorandum of understanding with Iran.

He had warned before the signing of the memorandum that Iran would interpret its provisions, including those related to the Strait of Hormuz, differently from the United States.
