🔻Ismail Bakhshi, a labor activist and former prisoner, reported on Tuesday, 17 Shahrivar 1405, through the publication of a video about the start of his sit-in in front of the Haft Tappeh sugarcane complex.
In the video, Mr. Bakhshi says that a security institution has prevented him from returning to work for eight years due to his activities and labor strikes. He announced that, starting from 17 Shahrivar, he will stage a sit-in in front of this complex in order to return to work.
Ismail Bakhshi was arrested during the widespread protests by workers of the Haft Tappeh sugarcane company in 2019. Labor sources said that he was tortured during his detention, but judicial and government authorities denied the claim.
In Shahrivar 2019, Mr. Bakhshi was sentenced to 14 years in punitive imprisonment and 74 lashes. After a few months, he was released on bail, and after some time, together with the other Haft Tappeh defendants, he was included in a general amnesty.
