Iranian media: An Iranian oil tanker near Khark Island was “targeted”

🔸 Iranian media have reported that several explosions were heard near Khark Island—Iran’s main oil export terminal—and that a small Iranian oil tanker was targeted.

🔸 Tasnim News Agency reported that this tanker was “targeted” on Saturday, the 14th of Shahrivar, six nautical miles from Khark Island and within the anchorage area.

🔸 Tasnim says the targeting was carried out “with four projectiles by U.S. forces.”

🔸 According to local sources, the incident had no reported casualties and the crew are currently unloading the tanker. The website Asr-e Iran has also reported that four projectiles hit this vessel.

🔸 Fars News Agency had previously announced that the sound of the explosions was heard from within the Persian Gulf area, but there was no sign of smoke observed and the source of the sounds was not identified.

🔸 Nor news, citing local sources, published a report titled “U.S. missile attack on an Iranian oil tanker,” but called it unconfirmed.

🔸 So far, no official authorities in Iran or the United States have commented on these reports, and there is no independent information available about the identity of the tanker or the extent of the damage.

🔸 On August 31, U.S. President Donald Trump was reported to have said that Khark Island was “being destroyed” after posting an AI-generated video on social media.

🔸 Officials of the Islamic Republic have previously warned that they would respond strongly to any attack on this island.

🔸 Attributing this new incident to U.S. forces has not been confirmed, but the incident occurs as tensions between Iran and the United States over oil tankers have increased.
