European diplomat: The proposed resolution will be approved at the Board of Governors; the question is how many votes

An senior European diplomat told BBC Persian that he is sure that the proposed resolution to refer Iran’s nuclear file to the UN Security Council will be adopted at this week’s meeting of the Board of Governors; “The only question is how many votes it gets.”

According to the diplomat, Europeans are not very hopeful that the adoption of this resolution will lead to a change in Iran’s behavior toward the IAEA, but “this resolution ends a process that had started some time ago.”

The periodic meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency has begun today in Vienna, and it is expected that voting on this proposal will take place in the coming days.

The previous time the Board of Governors referred Iran’s nuclear file to the Security Council was in 1384. After that, the Security Council, in several resolutions, adopted sanctions against Iran.
