Donald Trump, the U.S. president, said at a gathering of Republicans in Dallas that the war with the Islamic Republic would end shortly after the third November midterm election and that Tehran wants an agreement with the Democrats.
Trump called the JCPOA “one of the worst deals” and said that the Islamic Republic was on the path to obtaining a nuclear weapon.
He added: “If I hadn’t scrapped the JCPOA and if we hadn’t targeted them with those beautiful B-2 bombers, they would now have nuclear weapons.”
Trump said that in that case he would have been forced to contact the leader of the Islamic Republic and say: “Yes, Mr. Leader, how are you, Your Excellency? Is there something that we can do for you?”
He added that now he is no longer forced to do such a thing, and presented it as opposed to a U.S. military strike, saying: “Instead of thoroughly bombing them.”
Trump went on to emphasize: “We can’t allow Iran to have nuclear weapons. The matter is very simple. We can’t allow them to have nuclear weapons.”
