The documentary “Noza,” which was screened at the 83rd Venice Film Festival, has prompted extensive reactions from Israeli political and military officials, with a narration by 24 Israeli officers and soldiers about how targets were selected and military operations were conducted in Gaza.

The documentary is the result of more than three years of investigative journalism, and one of the film’s interviews claims that an attack to kill a Hamas member had been approved with the expectation that 500 non-combatants would be killed. The Israeli Army has rejected the claim and called the film’s accounts a distortion of reality and containing false allegations against its soldiers and commanders.

In response, the makers of “Noza” have emphasized the importance of the documentary being seen, especially by Israelis. The film has now become a subject of debate about the performance of the army, national security, freedom of speech, and loyalty to the country.
