🔶 Boroujerdi: The Strait of Hormuz will remain under Iran’s control forever
Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian parliament, said in an interview with the “Defaapres” news agency that the Strait of Hormuz, as a strategic waterway, will remain permanently under the possession and control of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
These remarks are made while control of the entire Strait of Hormuz is not solely in Iran’s hands. This waterway lies between the coasts of Iran and Oman, and its management and control must be carried out with Oman’s participation.
Boroujerdi also referred to conditions in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and said, “This strait is under the control of the Yemenis.”
According to Boroujerdi, given Saudi Arabia’s extensive sanctions against Yemen’s Houthis, they have, in a “reciprocal move, taken control of the Bab al-Mandab Strait,” and “this issue must be analyzed within the framework of relations between Yemen and Saudi Arabia.”
After the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Saudi Arabia had shifted the route of its oil exports to the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
