Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the sidelines of a meeting with Ali Al-Zaidi, the Prime Minister of Iraq, in Tehran, said that Ali Al-Zaidi, after his trip to Washington, would convey his views and impressions of this trip to officials of the Islamic Republic, but that this does not mean mediation between Tehran and Washington. Araghchi added that the Islamic Republic “has no problem serving as an intermediary with America” and that “this issue does not need messages and counter-messages.” He said the problem for the Islamic Republic is the “unreasonable, excessive, and domineering approach” of the United States, and that Washington should reconsider its policies. The Islamic Republic’s Foreign Minister also said that the implementation of the Tehran–Baghdad agreement, coordination for Arbaeen, and certain security concerns at the borders are among the other topics of discussion with the Iraqi prime minister.
