How much does YouTube TV cost in 2026?

The main YouTube TV plan costs $82.99 a month as of 3 November 2026, for one membership with up to six household accounts and 100+ channels, including local networks [1]. YouTube calls this its main plan; its help centre notes it was formerly known as the Base Plan [3]. The $82.99 rate dates from a $10 increase that the Associated Press reported in December 2024: it applied at once to new customers and from 13 January 2025 to existing subscribers, and the previous rise, to $72.99, was in March 2023 [11]. YouTube cited the rising cost of content [11].

YouTube TV now also sells cheaper plans built around genres. YouTube announced these plans on 9 February 2026 and said they would roll out over several weeks [12][13]. As of 3 November 2026, its plans page lists the regular monthly rates after any promotion as: Sports Plan $64.99; Sports + News $71.99; Sports + Entertainment $71.99; Sports + News + Family $77.99; Sports + Entertainment + Family $77.99; Entertainment $54.99; News + Entertainment $62.99; and News + Entertainment + Family $69.99 [2].

New users are offered introductory prices that end on 16 November 2026 [1][2]. For example, the main plan is $59.99 a month for the first two months and the Sports + News plan $49.99 a month for the first five months, after which the regular rate applies [1]. YouTube says there are no annual contracts and no fees for equipment, DVR, broadcasting or cancelling [1]. This is general information, not financial advice; prices change, so check the current rate before subscribing.

What plans does YouTube TV offer?

YouTube TV's help centre lists the plans available to new subscribers: the main YouTube TV plan, Sports, Entertainment and combinations of the Sports, News, Entertainment and Family genres [3]. New and existing subscribers can see different lists [3]. As of 3 November 2026, the plans page gives regular prices for nine plans [2]; for any other combination, check the price shown during sign-up.

Key rules for all plans [3]:

  • You choose from the listed plans; you cannot create your own plan by selecting individual channels.
  • All features of the main plan, including Multiview, Family Sharing, stream limits and DVR, are available on the other plans.
  • Plan availability can vary if you are billed through a mobile carrier, internet provider or Google Play.

The Sports Plan is described as a lower-priced option that includes all the sports channels from the main plan plus local channels [3]. Its help page says it includes ESPN and local NBC, CBS, Fox and ABC channels, and that subscribers will receive ESPN Unlimited at no additional cost later in the autumn [4]. Its trial is shorter: two days, against 21 days for the other plans shown on the plans page [2]. When the plans launched in February 2026, 9to5Google and YouTube's blog listed a new-user Sports Plan rate of $54.99 a month for the first year [12][13]; as of 3 November 2026 the plans page shows no Sports promotion [2].

What do you get with every plan?

YouTube lists the following as standard on all plans [1]:

  • Unlimited cloud DVR: record as much as you want; each recording is kept for nine months.
  • Six accounts for household members aged 13 and over, each with its own login, recommendations and DVR library.
  • Three simultaneous streams, or unlimited streams at home with the 4K Plus add-on.
  • Multiview to watch up to four games at once on supported phones, tablets and TVs.

On ads, YouTube says live TV includes the networks' ad breaks; recorded programmes can usually be fast-forwarded once they have aired, but on-demand content usually cannot [1]. YouTube Premium is not included in YouTube TV, though Premium members see no ads on YouTube videos played inside YouTube TV [1].

YouTube TV is watched through apps on smart TVs, streaming players, game consoles, phones and tablets, or in a browser at tv.youtube.com, and YouTube recommends an internet connection of at least 3 Mbps [1].

What add-ons cost extra?

Add-ons sit on top of any plan. As listed on the YouTube TV homepage on 3 November 2026, with the note that prices vary [1]:

  • 4K Plus, $9.99 a month: 4K playback on select content, unlimited simultaneous streams at home and offline viewing of recordings on mobile devices [1][6].
  • Premium networks such as ALLBLK, MGM+ and Shudder, from $1.99 a month [1].
  • Entertainment Plus, $29.99 a month, bundling HBO Max, Paramount+ with SHOWTIME and STARZ [1].
  • NFL RedZone with Sports Plus, $10.99 a month, adding 13+ sports networks [1].
  • Spanish Plus, $14.99 a month [1].

NFL Sunday Ticket, best known for out-of-market Sunday afternoon NFL games, can be added to any YouTube TV plan or bought as a Primetime Channel on YouTube; on YouTube TV it requires an active YouTube TV plan [8]. It is sold as a season pass, with no single-team or weekly options [8]. As of 3 November 2026, YouTube's help page links to current Sunday Ticket pricing rather than stating it, so check the price during sign-up [8].

Some networks can be bought on their own without any YouTube TV plan; this works on Android and desktop browsers, not on iOS [10].

How do the YouTube TV plans compare?

The table after this section sets the plans side by side. Three patterns stand out from YouTube's own figures, as of 3 November 2026 [2]:

  • Dropping a single genre saves little: Sports + Entertainment + Family (no News) and Sports + News + Family (no Entertainment) are each $77.99, $5 below the main plan.
  • The largest saving comes from dropping Sports: News + Entertainment is $62.99, about $20 less than the main plan.
  • Sports fans who do not need entertainment channels can use the $64.99 Sports Plan, which YouTube pairs with NFL Sunday Ticket for in-market and out-of-market games [4].

When YouTube TV moved to $82.99 in December 2024, the Associated Press noted that this matched the advertised price of Disney's Hulu + Live TV bundle at the time [11]. Rival prices change, so any comparison with other live TV services should be made on the day. A practical checklist: the regular monthly price after promotions, the channels you actually watch (lineups depend on your ZIP code [9]), DVR limits, the number of streams and any hardware or contract costs.

How do switching, pausing and cancelling work?

Switching plans. In YouTube TV, go to Settings, then Membership, and pick a plan; the new plan starts right away [3]. You are charged for the new plan minus a credit for unused time, and that date becomes your new billing date [3]. Two cautions: switching ends any promotional price, and if you drop a genre, recordings from those channels leave your DVR library unless you switch back within 21 days [3]. Plan switching is not available in the iOS or Android apps [3].

Pausing. You can pause for 4 weeks to 6 months; the pause starts after the current billing cycle, nothing new is recorded, and normal billing resumes automatically at the end [7].

Cancelling. On the web, select your profile photo, then Settings, Membership, Manage, Cancel membership [7]. Access continues to the end of the paid or trial period, then recordings expire after 21 days [7]. YouTube does not refund partial billing periods [1].

Where does YouTube TV work, and what are its limits?

YouTube TV is available throughout the United States [9] and, by YouTube's figures, in over 99.5% of US households, with complete local network coverage in over 98% of US TV households [1]. Channel lineups depend on your home ZIP code [9].

Location rules. Your home area decides your local networks. Outside it you can watch programming local to where you are, but you cannot record or watch your home-area local networks [5]. You can change the home area only twice in 12 months, and only while you are physically in the new area [5]. YouTube asks members to sign in from home at least once every three months [1].

International use. YouTube says you cannot access any programmes, live or recorded, while travelling internationally [1], and streaming does not work while connected to a VPN or proxy [5]. For readers outside the US, including in Iran, the service is therefore not usable [1][9].

Benefits: no contract, unlimited DVR, six accounts and a choice of cheaper genre plans [1][3]. Limits: a full-lineup price of $82.99 a month as of 3 November 2026, $10 above the 2023–2024 rate [1][11], promotional prices that end, and no option to build a channel-by-channel plan [3].

What could change next?

The genre plans are new: YouTube launched them in February 2026 [12][13]. YouTube describes the genre plans as giving subscribers more choice and control over the content they pay for [3], and notes that billing partners such as mobile carriers and internet providers are still adding them to their platforms [3]. Plans offered through those partners may therefore differ for some time [3].

The current introductory offers end on 16 November 2026 [1][2], and the Sports Plan's ESPN Unlimited inclusion was still described as coming later in the autumn as of 3 November 2026 [4]. Because rates and lineups can change, the regular price on YouTube TV's plans page is the figure to rely on, as of the day you sign up [2].

Common mistakes

  • Budgeting with the introductory price

Fix: Offers last two to five months, then the regular rate applies, for example $82.99 for the main plan as of 3 November 2026 [1][2].

  • Switching plans while on a promotion

Fix: YouTube says switching plans ends any promotional price [3]. Check the cost before switching.

  • Dropping a genre and losing recordings

Fix: Recordings from removed channels leave the DVR; switch back within 21 days to regain them [3].

  • Expecting YouTube TV to work abroad or over a VPN

Fix: It is US-only, does not play while travelling internationally, and blocks VPN or proxy connections [1][5].

  • Assuming YouTube Premium is included

Fix: YouTube Premium is a separate subscription and is not part of YouTube TV [1].
