🔶 Warning by Iran’s Ministry of Health about an Increase in COVID-19 Cases

According to Mehr News Agency, in a letter to the health deputies of universities and schools of medical sciences, Alireza Raeisi, Deputy Minister of Health, reported an upward trend of the COVID-19 virus and that the indicator for positive cases in the country has passed the lower warning threshold, and called for strengthening prevention and monitoring measures.

In the Health Ministry’s directive, with an emphasis on using masks in enclosed spaces, attention is drawn to “periodic monitoring of prisons, nursing homes, and schools in case of reopening,” and it was also warned about the intensification of the rising trend of respiratory infections with the start of the autumn season.

Concern about an increase in COVID-19 and influenza cases comes while the spokesperson of the Iranian Pharmacists’ Association had recently said, in a conversation with ILNA news agency, that due to blocked routes for sending goods and also the inability to transfer currency, only a small number of influenza vaccines had been imported into the country—vaccines intended only for hospital centers.

Hadi Ahmadi had stated that during this period, due to the lack of raw materials, “not even a single” vaccine had been produced in the country.
