An energy studies center based in the United States has reported that Iraq has started exporting fuel oil via Jordan since last month.

A spokesman for Iraq’s Ministry of Oil, confirming the matter, said that the final destination of the fuel oil delivered to Jordan is not that country itself and that the shipments are being sent for exports to other countries. Earlier, Iraq had started exporting fuel oil through Syria due to disruption by the Islamic Republic in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to this report, in August Iraq sent 5,910,000 barrels of fuel oil via Syria and 370,000 barrels via Jordan to global markets. Thus, the average daily export of Iraqi fuel oil through the two aforementioned countries last month was about 200,000 barrels.

Exports of Iraqi fuel oil had nearly stopped after the Islamic Republic’s disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, and since June Iraq has replaced the Strait of Hormuz with Syria. Spain, the Netherlands, Egypt, and South Korea are the biggest customers of Iraqi fuel oil.
