🔶 Israel’s army says a Hamas commander was killed in Khan Younis
The Israeli army said one of Hamas’s commanders who played a role in the attack on the “Sufa” military base at the Gaza Strip border on October 7, 2023 was targeted and killed in an airstrike in the city of Khan Younis on Wednesday, September 2.
In a statement posted on the X network, the Israeli army identified the Hamas member as Mohammad Mahmoud Mershed Al-Qazi and said he was the commander of a company in the “Elite” special unit and also participated in maintaining Israeli hostages in the Rafah area.
According to the Israeli army, during the October 7 attack Al-Qazi was in charge of the raid on the Sufa base and, in recent months, was responsible for training Hamas forces.
The statement said that Al-Qazi had been working to rebuild the operational capabilities of the terrorist group Hamas and that, “in an organized manner and in violation of the ceasefire,” he played a role in the planning and carrying out of attacks against Israeli military personnel and civilians.
