Consultations between UK and US leaders about the war in Ukraine, reopening the Strait of Hormuz and Iran
🔸The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom spoke by phone on Monday, 16 Shahrivar, with Donald Trump, the President of the United States, and the two leaders discussed and exchanged views on ending the war in Ukraine, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and Iran not reaching nuclear weapons.
🔸According to the spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office in the UK, Andy Burnham, in this call, “reiterated Britain’s support for Ukraine as well as the recent peace talks led by the United States.”
🔸The phone call takes place after Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, the US peace envoys, met with Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, in Kyiv on Sunday.
🔸The two had previously also spoken with Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, on Saturday.
🔸In the discussion on the economy, the British prime minister congratulated the US president on the latest employment figures in the country and pointed to positive signs of growth in the UK economy.
🔸He said the government is creating more hope and optimism about Britain, but more work still needs to be done.
