🔶 Axios: The U.S. destroyed two Iranian boats in the Strait of Hormuz

U.S. officials told Axios that the U.S. military targeted two small Iranian boats in the Strait of Hormuz after, according to them, Revolutionary Guard forces tried to seize an unmanned naval vessel of the U.S. Navy.

An American official told Axios that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard used these boats in an attempt to take control of a maritime drone—an unmanned aerial vehicle that the U.S. Army used to patrol in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the official, after this attempt was identified, an American drone fired two missiles toward the boats and destroyed them. He claimed that most of the people aboard these boats were killed.

Team Hawkins, a spokesperson for the U.S. Central Command, CENTCOM, confirmed the attempt to seize the U.S. maritime drone.

He said: “The small Iranian boats recently tried to take control of an American unmanned surface vessel, but failed after CENTCOM’s decisive response.” Hawkins added that the maritime drone is still under U.S. operational control.
