🔻After the release of a video showing a group escape from a drug addiction treatment camp in Mashhad, the director general of welfare in Razavi Khorasan said that the center has been evacuated until the status of the situation is determined.

According to Mehr News Agency, Mehdi Borji said that on Saturday, 70 people under the care of this center fled and so far 6 of them have been returned.

He said that the individuals, during rest time and airings, got into clashes with the guards and escaped from the center.

Mehdi Borji also said that the addiction treatment center was evacuated after this incident, and the people under its care have been transferred to a place described as “safe” until the status is clarified.

This addiction treatment center is one of the facilities under the umbrella of the Drug Control Headquarters, known as “Camp Article 16.” Under Article 16 of the Law on Drug Control, individuals under the care of these centers are held, at the order of judicial authorities, for addiction treatment in these camps.
