🔶 UN senior official: Hamas prevents aid from being delivered to Gaza
A senior United Nations official accused Hamas of interfering in the process of distributing humanitarian aid in Gaza and of intimidating aid workers, warning that the group’s actions are making relief operations more dangerous every day.
Hamas still controls parts of the Gaza Strip, while Israeli forces have expanded their presence across more than 60% of this area.
Ramiz Alakbarov, deputy coordinator for the UN’s special process on Middle East peace, in a statement strongly condemned Hamas officials’ obstruction of the continuation of humanitarian operations.
He said the group’s actions have “put the lives of aid workers at risk, intimidated workers who are distributing critical food aid, and disrupted vital humanitarian operations.”
According to a UN statement, on Saturday, July 11 (20 Tir), armed individuals associated with Hamas forcibly entered a food distribution center in Jabalya in the northern Gaza Strip.
