Mauritania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Islamic Republic of Iran’s ambassador, Javad Abu Alie Al Akbar, on Monday.

During the summoning of the Islamic Republic’s ambassador, Mauritania conveyed its official protest against “certain actions and movements that are not consistent with diplomatic norms and the regulations governing the performance of diplomatic duties in the host countries.”

According to a report by Sky News Arabia, the summoning took place after the ambassador’s weekend trip to villages and rural areas of Mauritania, without informing the relevant authorities.

Also, following that, three people were detained in connection with the conditions related to receiving the ambassador of the Islamic Republic.

More than 99% of Mauritanian citizens are Maliki, and Shiites form a very small minority of the country’s population.
