Jorge Rodríguez, president of Venezuela’s National Assembly, announced the latest death toll from the country’s two major earthquakes, according to which the number of people killed in the incident has reached 5,398. He said that 16,740 people were also injured as a result of the incident.
Recalling that more than 856 buildings were damaged by the two earthquakes, the head of Venezuela’s National Assembly said that 23,335 people are currently being housed in temporary shelters.
On Wednesday, the third of Tir, two severe earthquakes shook Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, and Donald Trump, the U.S. president, immediately instructed his government to send aid to Venezuela.
