JD Vance, U.S. Vice President, said about negotiating with the Islamic Republic: “Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has made it completely clear that as long as attacks on commercial ships do not stop, we neither will talk with them nor do we intend to carry out such talks.”
He said: “Our message to the Islamic Republic has been clear from the very beginning: they must stop firing at commercial ships. They must stop doing it. The matter is as simple as that.”
Vance added: “What we will do is not to rely on the Islamic Republic’s responsible behavior or on good-faith negotiations. What we will do is use the tools at our disposal to ensure, first, that the people of the United States are not faced with threats from the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program, and second, that global energy markets are supplied appropriately.”
