CBS News, citing U.S. military and intelligence sources, reported that amid the intensification of clashes between Tehran and Washington, concerns have been raised in the White House over the high speed at which some of the most advanced air-defense interceptor missiles and precision-guided munitions in the Middle East are being deployed.

According to the report, published on the evening of Thursday, the first of Mordad, the depletion of the stocks of these weapons has fueled concerns about how prepared the United States is for a possible conflict in the Indo-Pacific region.

CBS News added that the decline in the stocks of defensive interceptor missiles and long-range missiles has become one of the serious challenges facing senior U.S. military and civilian officials, as they now have to strike a balance between meeting the needs of the war in Iran and maintaining deterrence capability against other U.S. rivals, especially China.

U.S. sources who spoke with CBS News on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter warned that the United States cannot consume precision-guided munitions at a pace similar to the early stages of operations against the Islamic Republic.
