Abdullah Ali Fazil Al-Saadi, Yemen’s representative to the UN Security Council, said the armed forces of this country “are the first line of defense of the interests of the world in the Bab al-Mandab,” and warned that Houthi attacks should not be considered a temporary threat.

Al-Saadi said: “Bab al-Mandab is part of Yemen’s territory, but its security concerns the entire world, and the international community must know that protecting this strait is a shared responsibility.”

Jamal Fars Al-Ruwaiyi, Bahrain’s representative to the UN Security Council, also, citing the human losses caused by the escalation of Houthi attacks in Yemen, condemned the group’s repeated attacks on the western coast of Yemen and Saudi Arabia, and called for the decisive implementation of arms embargoes on the Houthis.

Also, Kate Foster, the United Kingdom’s representative to the UN Security Council, said: “The escalation of tensions in Yemen is carried out with support from the Islamic Republic.”

She added: “The international community must send a clear message, which is to end the actions of the Houthis; one cannot put an important commercial artery like Bab al-Mandab at risk.”
