U.S. Republican Rep. Joe Wilson wrote on social media platform X about the interception of a drone belonging to Yemen’s Houthis, which intended to enter the airspace over the city of Mecca.

He said: “Foreign Iranian-backed proxy Houthis that have occupied Yemen are now attacking Muslim holy sites in Mecca in Saudi Arabia.”

He added: “We stand with our partners in Saudi Arabia against the hateful aggression of the Houthis.”

Wilson also wrote about a three-country alliance of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan that was formed some time ago: “If the Mecca alliance has any meaning, Turkey and Pakistan should cooperate with Saudi Arabia to destroy the foreign Houthi terrorists and free Yemen from Iranian control.”
