The UAE’s official news agency reported that U.S. President Donald Trump had a telephone call with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates.
In the conversation, which took place early on Thursday, 12 Shahrivar, the two sides discussed and exchanged views on various aspects of cooperation, joint actions, and ways to strengthen these cooperation efforts in order to secure the mutual interests of the two countries.
The two sides also exchanged their views on issues of mutual interest, especially ongoing developments in the Middle East region and the efforts made in this regard.
Earlier, Axios had reported that Steve Witkoff, the White House envoy, met with Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates’ national security adviser, over the past weekend and discussed next steps regarding the Iranian regime.
Axios, citing two informed sources, reported that the meeting—one the White House had not announced—was held on the island of Sardinia in the Mediterranean Sea.
