The Palestinian self-governing entity is trying to have Sebastia recognized by UNESCO as a Palestinian heritage site.

Because when you don’t have your own ancient heritage, you steal other people’s heritage.

The city was founded in the ninth century BCE under the name Shomron (Samaria), the capital of the Kingdom of Israel, and in the first century BCE it was renamed Sebastia by Herod, king of Judea.
