👈 Kamran Ghadanfari was sentenced to prison in a complaint filed by Hassan Rouhani!
The trial court of first instance sentenced Kamran Ghadanfari, a member of parliament, on each of the two counts of insult and defamation to pay a fine of 501 million rials, and for the publication of computer-related lies to 13 months and 16 days of discretionary imprisonment. The appellate court found the defendant’s objection ineffective and confirmed the ruling exactly. This verdict is final, and the harsher punishment is enforceable.
Kamran Ghadanfari had accused Hassan Rouhani of “spying for MI6,” “having ties with foreign intelligence services,” “having British citizenship,” and “corruption on earth.” His defense was that the claims he raised were heard from some members of the parliamentary National Security Commission or from reports related to officials who have dual nationality, and that Rouhani’s disqualification in the Assembly of Experts election also supports his allegations.
The court did not accept this defense and stated that none of these allegations had been proven on the basis of official and legal references.
