Iranian state media and a Pakistani official announced that Asim Munir, the commander of the Pakistan Army, is expected to travel to Tehran on Tuesday. The trip will take place after Munir’s talks with Iranian officials in the summer.

Pakistan has played an important role in mediating between the United States and the Islamic Republic this year. Munir’s previous talks in Tehran focused on preventing tensions from escalating, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and speeding up the end of the fighting.
