🔺 Global food prices reached the highest level since 2022
▪ Global food prices in August 2026 reached their highest level since November 2022.
▪ The UN Food and Agriculture Organization says that the combination of extreme heat in Europe, war, and disruptions to trade and transportation caused by the Middle East and Ukraine wars has increased concerns about the supply of chemical fertilizers and agricultural products.
▪ The food price index in August reached 133.3 points, which is 1.9 points higher than the previous month. However, this figure can still be seen as 17 points below the March 2022 record—one month after Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
▪ FAO says that all five main food groups—including grains, vegetable oil, sugar, meat, and dairy—have seen price increases compared to the previous month.
