Following a call by the coalition of political forces of Iranian Kurdistan, coinciding with the fourth anniversary of the state killing of Mahsa Jina Amini and the start of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, shopkeepers and bazaar merchants in a number of Kurdish-populated cities went on strike and kept their shops closed.

A human rights organization, Hanaa, wrote on Wednesday morning that a strike had begun in several cities in Kurdistan and said it would publish images and additional information about it.

Following that, a video was released showing the start of the strike in Sanandaj, in which the person filming reported that the shops were closed on the occasion of the anniversary of Amini’s state killing and that shopkeepers had joined the strike.

A viewer, by sending a video to Iran International, said that merchants and shopkeepers in Saqqez shut their shops on September 15, and that the presence of military forces in the city had also been reported.

Videos received by Iran International reported the continuation of the strike in Sanandaj and the deployment of police forces and riot-control units in parts of the city.

Other videos from Oshnavieh, Baneh, Bukan, Paveh, Piranshahr, Divandarreh, Kamyaran, Kermanshah, Marivan, and Mahabad show shops and bazaars remaining closed in parts of these cities.
