Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi discussed developments in the Strait of Hormuz and their implications for regional security and the global economy.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that the two ministers emphasized the necessity of protecting navigation and ensuring the continued flow of trade and energy transfer through the Strait of Hormuz, and they exchanged views on efforts to restore calm and stability to the region.

Abdelatty also called for an end to the current intensification of tensions and for the return of the United States and the Islamic Republic to negotiations within the framework of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, and said diplomacy is the best way to address the crisis’s underlying factors.
