🔶 Broad support from political prisoners, parties and groups for a general strike in Kurdistan

The Kurdish Human Rights Network reported that Zeyneb Jalalian, Variesheh Moradi, Sakinah Parvaneh, and Mataleb Ahmadian, four Kurdish political prisoners held in Evin and Yazd prisons, went on a hunger strike on Wednesday, 25 Shahrivar, in parallel with a general strike in Kurdistan.

According to the Kurdish Human Rights Network report, the four political prisoners described the hunger strike as “the most civil mode of expressing protest” in a message, and said that, on the fourth anniversary of the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini and the start of the uprising of “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” (Woman, Life, Freedom), they are joining the call for a general strike in Kurdistan through a hunger strike.

The call for a general strike was issued by the “Coalition of Political Parties of Kurdistan in Iran” for Wednesday, 25 Shahrivar.

Ahead of this strike, a number of Iranian parties, political currents, and national figures—including the Central Council of the “Iran Freedom Congress,” the “Nationalities of Federal Iran Congress,” and “A Broad Solidarity for Freedom and Equality in Iran”—supported the call for a general strike in Kurdistan’s cities by issuing a statement, calling it a sign of solidarity with the people.
