🔻 Axios reports U.S. and Britain’s efforts to hold an «international conference about the Strait of Hormuz in London»

The American magazine Axios, in an exclusive report citing two European diplomats and two other informed sources, says that the United States and Britain are planning to hold a meeting in London, whose main focus would be «the formation of an international coalition to protect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.»

In Axios’s report, written by Barak Ravid, it is stated: «Reopening the Strait of Hormuz for the passage of commercial vessels is considered one of the key elements of the United States’ strategy to exit the confrontation with Iran, as well as efforts to create stability in global energy markets.»

Based on the report, the time and details of the meeting have not been finalized, but it is likely that defense ministers and senior military commanders of Western countries, as well as regional countries, will attend.

Axios says that European diplomats expected that Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, and General Dan Kin, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, would participate in the meeting.

Axios says that «the White House and the U.S. Department of Defense (the Pentagon) have so far not responded to Axios’s request for comment, and the British Embassy in Washington has also declined to comment.»

Concurrently with this report, the United Nations Human Rights Council warned about the situation of crew members of ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz and urged all parties involved in the war to create a safe passage for the safe exit of the stranded sailors in and around the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible.
