‌🔻Axios, citing U.S. officials, reported that the U.S. Army on Tuesday (21 July/30 Tir) used a B-1 long-range bomber in an attack on “targets belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iran.”

According to this report, this is the first time, since the resumption of hostilities with Iran, that the U.S. Army has used this type of bomber in its operations in the past twelve days.

Axios said that the “B-1” bomber carried out its mission starting from an “air base in the United Kingdom,” and that its movement was observed on online flight-tracking sites.

The report said that “the use of B-1 bombers, which are capable of carrying 24 bombs weighing more than 900 kilograms and/or dozens of cruise missiles, indicates a significant escalation and expansion of the scope of the U.S. military campaign against Iran.”

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) in its statement on Tuesday about that day’s attacks had not mentioned the use of a “B-1” bomber.
