🔻After a Hindu religious group visited the Eiffel Tower, managers asked women employees to temporarily leave their workplaces so they wouldn’t be “seen” during the group’s visit. In protest, the Eiffel Tower employees went on strike.

The incident began on Saturday, 14 Shahrivar, when around 100 members of a Hindu religious group visited the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. The group had requested that during their visit interaction with women be kept to the “minimum possible.” As a result, a number of female employees of the Eiffel Tower were asked to leave their jobs and male employees were brought in to replace them.

The incident enraged the staff, especially the women, who said the behavior was humiliating and discriminatory. In the end, the employees went on strike on Monday and the Eiffel Tower was shut down.

The Hindu religious group, whose full name is the Swaminarayan Akshar Purushottam Bochasanwasi organization, has temples in major cities around the world including London, Los Angeles, and Sydney, and on Sunday it inaugurated its first major temple in France in the suburbs of Paris.
