Abdolnaser Hemmati, Governor of the Central Bank, said on Monday, 23 Shahrivar, at the “Meeting of Governors of Central Banks of Islamic Countries” that external pressures, sanctions, and geopolitical risks are among the main factors behind fluctuations in Iran’s economy.
The Governor of the Central Bank said: “The central bank cannot be passive in the face of the transmission of external shocks to the domestic economy.”
Hemmati also added: “Monetary discipline is at the forefront of controlling inflation, and preventing the financing of the government’s budget deficit through an increase in liquidity must continue.”
The Governor of the Central Bank said: “Monetary policy alone cannot contain inflationary expectations, and financial decisions, trade policies, and administered pricing also directly affect inflation and the exchange rate.”
