🔻U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) says it attacked three Iranian oil tankers. According to a CENTCOM statement on X, the attack took place after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fired a ballistic missile at two U.S. Navy ships that were patrolling in the waters of the region. The statement said that an American aircraft carrier and a missile-equipped guided-weapon destroyer, which were targeted with several attacks without “provocation,” successfully kept themselves at a distance and that no American forces were harmed. According to the statement, after these attacks, CENTCOM forces permanently disabled two oil tankers carrying crude oil affiliated with the IRGC—Daonei near Kharg Island and the Starc 1 tanker near Jask Island. In addition, an oil tanker carrying no cargo in the “Gulf of Oman” was also rendered inoperable after its crew was ordered to abandon it, following several strikes. According to CENTCOM, these three tankers are part of a multi-billion-dollar network known as Iran’s “shadow fleet.”
