The New York Times reported, citing Iranian and Iraqi officials, that Ali al-Zubaidi, the new prime minister of Iraq, carried a Trump proposal on his trip to Iran.
Iranian officials told the newspaper that they are not interested in a “temporary deal” that does not determine the final status of the Strait of Hormuz.
Earlier, Israel’s Channel 14 said that Ali al-Zubaidi, Iraq’s prime minister, is trying to reopen the Strait of Hormuz at the same time as pressures from Donald Trump, the president of the United States, and the network of the Islamic Republic’s proxy groups in Iraq.
The outlet also added that the Strait of Hormuz being kept closed so far has caused more than $50 billion in damage to Iraq.
Israel’s Channel 14 media also reported that Ali al-Zubaidi transferred to Tehran a proposal for a ceasefire between the United States and the Islamic Republic.
