The Financial Times reports that the foreign ministers of the Gulf Arab states are expected to meet with their Iranian counterpart regarding the Strait of Hormuz; an action being carried out within the framework of Oman and the Islamic Republic’s efforts to win support for an interim deal aimed at managing shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

The report, citing two informed individuals, says that a meeting of the foreign ministers of the aforementioned countries is scheduled for Monday in the coastal city of Salalah, Oman.

Iran insists that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the United States ends its blockade and attacks.

The United States has also said it controls the Strait of Hormuz and, according to reports, U.S. President Donald Trump has likewise said there is reluctance to return to the peace agreement.

Earlier, an adviser to the president of the United Arab Emirates said that a functional relationship with the Islamic Republic can be repaired, but that rebuilding trust may take decades.

Anwar Gargash said on Monday at the Heili Association in Abu Dhabi that the UAE is creating alternative routes for its energy exports and trade.
