Reuters reported on Tuesday, 24 Shahrivar, that Britain, the United States and the Netherlands issued a joint warning about the “CHOSEN BRICK” spyware, which actors linked to the Islamic Republic use to target opponents, activists and journalists.

Britain’s National Cyber Security Centre said this malware can steal emails and messages, has access to social media accounts and the device microphone, and can capture footage from the screen. According to this agency, the attackers also trick victims into downloading the malware by impersonating trusted individuals and using fake documents, including fabricated MRI results.

The FBI said the Islamic Republic’s Ministry of Intelligence uses this spyware to collect information, expose data and damage the credibility of targeted individuals.
