In a video recently shared on social media, “Pori Banayi,” a well-known Iranian cinema actress in the years before the Revolution, tells young people who want to leave Iran: “Isn’t it a pity to leave this royal heaven and go?”

In her remarks, Ms. Banayi addresses Iranian youths who, according to her, have consulted with or spoken to her about emigrating from Iran in recent months, saying: “Iran belongs to you. It is yours. You are the young generation that builds the future of Iran. You are so good and kind that you should stay and build Iran.”

She also says that she wants to start “acting in films” again in a future Iran that has been built by Iranians.

Pori Banayi is a well-known actress from before the Revolution, with a record of acting in more than 70 feature films. After the Revolution, she was among the actresses whose profession was prohibited, and she only worked once, in 2008 [1387], in the feature film “Shirin,” directed by Abbas Kiarostami, in front of the camera.
