Rashad al-Alimi, head of Yemen’s presidential council, wrote on X that the Houthis, whenever an opportunity is provided to reduce tensions, sacrifice the interests of the people of Yemen to the Islamic Republic’s programs.

He added that the Yemeni government, together with an alliance supporting legitimacy and its international partners, will cooperate closely to protect maritime passages.

Al-Alimi also said that the Houthis have no choice but to comply with the demands of the people of Yemen, and that continuing to fan tensions will only lead to further erosion of the country’s resources and capabilities.
