🔶 Head of the Red Crescent calls for urgent follow-up on the status of Iranian Army pilots in Qatar
Peirhossein Koolivand, head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, in a letter to the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), called for the “urgent” follow-up of the situation of the pilots of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army whom Iranian officials say are being held in detention in Qatar.
In his letter to Mirjana Spoljaric, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Koolivand, citing reports, evidence, and information received, asked that this matter be urgently followed up by the international body.
In the letter, he also asked for the location where these pilots are being held to be clarified, as well as their health condition.
In response to these follow-ups, Stefan Bonami, head of the ICRC’s delegation in Iran, told the deputy for international affairs and humanitarian law at the Red Crescent Society that Koolivand’s recent letter had been sent to the office of the head of the ICRC to be reviewed and brought to attention.
