🔶 Germany’s Foreign Ministry’s response to Deutsche Welle about visas for Iranians

After months of suspension and restrictions on the activities of the German embassy in Tehran, the country’s foreign ministry has announced the return of some embassy staff and the reopening of waiting lists for certain types of visas. This development could be the first sign of the gradual resumption of visa services, but it does not yet mean a return to normal procedures or the immediate appointment of applicants.

Amid heightened regional tensions, unconfirmed reports have been published about the reduction or departure of staff from several European embassies in Tehran. As for Germany, the United Kingdom, and France, the claim has not yet been fully and officially confirmed.

In a written response to questions from Deutsche Welle, Germany’s foreign ministry stated that embassy staff in Tehran were temporarily transferred to Berlin from the beginning of March until the end of June 2026 due to the worsening security conditions. During this period, the embassy was only able to operate in a limited capacity.
